What this page covers

This page explains what information Ready California collects when you read the site, why it is collected, and how long it is kept.

What we collect

Our web server keeps a standard access log: the requesting IP address, the page requested, the time of the request, the referring page and the browser user-agent string. These logs exist so we can measure traffic and diagnose faults, and they are rotated and deleted on a rolling basis.

If you leave a comment, the name, email address and website you enter with it are stored so the comment can be published and moderated. Your email address is never published.

Cookies

The site sets a cookie only when you leave a comment and ask to be remembered, so you do not have to retype your details next time. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are set by us.

Embedded content from other sites

Articles may embed content such as video or audio players hosted elsewhere. Those sites can collect data about you exactly as if you had visited them directly, and their own privacy policies apply.

How long we keep things

Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so that follow-up comments can be recognised and approved automatically. Server access logs are kept only for as long as they are useful for diagnostics.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of any personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be erased. Write to us and we will action the request.
